International organizations

that make this fight visible

There are various organizations in the world that help to make visible the fight so that animals, especially dogs, have a harmonious life with human beings. In this dog blog we will meet some of the many organizations in which you can help:

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

The organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend their anti-cruelty mission across the country, they are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. The ASPCA’s mission is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”

Best Friends Animal Society

The mission of Best Friends Animal Society is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. They do this by helping end the killing in America's animal shelters through building community programs and partnerships all across the nation. They believe that by working together we can Save Them All.

Soi Dog Foundation

Soi Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization with a mission to “improve the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia,” has been on the ground working to end the dog meat trade. In Thailand, the non-profit was successful in ending the trade, and now the organization is working on expanding their efforts to neighboring countries. Not only does Soi Dog work on implementing bans on the trade, the organization also rescues dogs from the industry and works to adopt them out to loving, forever families.

Dogs for Better Lives

Established in 1977, Dogs for Better Lives is a national non-profit organization that rescues, trains and places dogs with people who have different disabilities and needs throughout the United States. Hearing Dogs, Autism Assistance Dogs, Program Assistance Dogs (dogs that work with teachers, counselors, and physicians), and Career Change Dogs are free to clients after a $50 application fee and refundable deposit.
